Rabbit
Cages
Rabbits
are very sociable creatures. They are also quite timid and nervous
creatures. They thus adapt better under the security of your home.
Moreover, their affableness makes them an excellent indoor companion.
Rabbit cages are appropriate if the pet will be kept indoors. There are
many types of rabbit cages on the market but not all are suitable for
rabbit rearing. In general, the most common ones are wire cages and
wooden cages. Wire cages are more durable as they are resistant to the
gnawing of the rabbit. They are also easier to clean and thus there is
less risk of diseases. Wood, on the other hand, tends to absorb water
and urine, making it difficult to clean.
The rabbit cage should be as comfortable as possible.
Thus wire floors are not advised as it may hurt the feet of the animal.
Prefer wooden flooring or cover the wire floor with a softer material.
Many breeders prefer grass mats. The solid part of the cage floor should
be removable so as to facilitate cleaning. Rabbit diseases generally
arise due to accumulation of dirt, feces and urine. Thus regular
cleaning is a priority.

The door of the rabbit cage should be large enough to
allow the adult rabbit as well as the litter pan to move in and out. A
side door is preferred as the animals would then be able to move in and
out on their own. This mobility is excellent for their overall health
and improves their character positively.
